Gyeongnam COVID-19 Cases Surge to 8,023... Changwon 2,179, Gimhae 1,663, Yangsan 1,048
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] The daily number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Gyeongnam region has surged past the 6,000 to 7,000 range, skyrocketing to over 8,000 cases.
According to Gyeongsangnam-do on the 23rd, as of midnight, there were 8,023 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the cumulative total to 96,186. Except for 7 cases from overseas arrivals, all are locally transmitted infections.
By region, Changwon recorded 2,179 cases, surpassing 2,000 for the first time, followed by Gimhae with 1,663 cases and Yangsan with 1,048 cases, both exceeding 1,000 cases.
Other cities and counties reported strong spread with Jinju at 895 cases, Geoje 620, Tongyeong 340, Sacheon 217, Miryang 192, Haman 152, Changnyeong 148, Geochang 131, Goseong 121, Hamyang 101, Hapcheon 61, Namhae 51, Hadong 45, Sancheong 36, and Uiryeong 23 cases.
There were also deaths reported. The health authorities stated that one patient in their 60s and one patient in their 80s passed away.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in the province have increased to 96,186 (774 hospitalized, 36,262 under home treatment, 59,024 discharged, and 126 deaths).
The number of critically ill patients remains at 19, maintaining about 0.05% of those currently receiving treatment.
