[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Job Foundation announced on the 23rd that they will officially launch the "2022 New Gyeonggi Stepping Stone Job Project," which supports the creation of career-building jobs for the employed and vulnerable groups, starting in April.
The purpose of this project is to help participants from employed and vulnerable groups gain work experience and job skills by engaging in economic activities for a certain period in the public and private sectors, thereby linking them to private sector jobs.
This year, with a project budget of 2.56 billion KRW, 105 participants will be selected and placed in 75 institutions including public organizations, social economy enterprises, and private companies.
Specifically, 50 participants will be selected for 39 job positions at 22 public institutions such as the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation, and Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation; 35 participants for 15 job positions at 35 social economy enterprises; and 20 participants for 20 job positions at 18 private companies.
Eligibility applies equally to public and private sectors for residents with household income at or below 100% of the median income or those belonging to employed and vulnerable groups (long-term unemployed for over 6 months, persons with disabilities, North Korean defectors, female heads of households, etc.).
Selected participants will be assigned to each workplace from April to November and work for 8 months at the respective institutions to build job skills and experience.
Reflecting participant demand and workplace characteristics, individual training expenses support or job and employment competency enhancement education will also be provided.
Participants’ wages are set at the 2022 Gyeonggi Province living wage level, which is 89,128 KRW per day (11,141 KRW per hour × 8 hours).
