CJ Logistics files injunction against delivery union to stop obstruction: "Please stop occupying headquarters"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] CJ Logistics has filed an injunction to prohibit obstruction against the Korea Parcel Delivery Workers' Union (Parcel Delivery Union) of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, which is occupying and protesting at its headquarters.
According to the legal community on the 22nd, CJ Logistics submitted the injunction petition to the Seoul Central District Court on the 17th, requesting to prohibit the Parcel Delivery Union's obstruction of business and to order their eviction.
The Civil Division 51 of the Seoul Central District Court, presided over by Chief Judge Jeon Bo-seong, in charge of the hearing, is scheduled to hold a hearing at 3:45 p.m. on the 23rd to listen to both parties' positions.
The Parcel Delivery Union has been on strike for 57 days since December 28 last year, claiming that the company is pocketing most of the parcel delivery fee increases agreed upon socially to prevent death from overwork.
On the 10th of this month, about 200 union members of the Parcel Delivery Union CJ Logistics Headquarters suddenly occupied the 1st and 3rd floors of the CJ Logistics headquarters.
On the 21st, the union accepted the proposal to create a dialogue atmosphere from the 'CJ Parcel Delivery Public Countermeasure Committee,' composed of about 90 religious, labor, and civic groups, and lifted the occupation of the 3rd floor.
However, CJ Logistics is demanding the union fully evacuate, stating that normal work cannot proceed unless the occupation of the 1st floor lobby is stopped due to the structure of the headquarters building.
The union declared that all union members of the Parcel Delivery Union will enter an all-out struggle against CJ, demanding the company engage in dialogue. Additionally, Jin Kyung-ho, the chairman of the Parcel Delivery Union, began a hunger strike protest, abstaining from water and salt since the previous day.
