View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee, Boryeong=Reporter Kwon Hyunji] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, referred to the government and ruling party as "slaves to outdated ideologies" and said that March 9, the day of the presidential election, will be "the day when every single person in the Republic of Korea becomes the true owner."
On the 22nd, during a campaign rally held in front of the Chungnam Boryeong Culture and Arts Center, Yoon pointed out, "The current Democratic Party regime is a regime of activists armed with left-wing social revolution ideology from the 1980s. It is not the Democratic Party of Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun."
Targeting Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, Yoon said, "Looking at his slogan, it says 'a competent economic president strong in crisis,'" and added, "Did the people create the crisis? Or did the Democratic Party regime, immersed in left-wing activist ideology, create it? If they didn't create the crisis, there would be no crisis," he criticized.
He then mentioned Lee's alleged preferential treatment in the Daejang-dong development project, sarcastically saying, "Leading the administration of Seongnam City with a population of one million, which can be toured in half a day, developing the city so that all residents can comfortably use residential facilities, yet Kim Man-bae and his group took 350 million won and extorted 850 billion won, receiving nearly one trillion won. How competent is such a person in corruption?"
Yoon also criticized the government and ruling party's security stance. He said, "Since the beginning of the year, North Korea has started firing missiles. Although they didn't aim at our faces, it's the same as threatening us with guns that leave holes all around," and added, "So I proposed that we must build a multilayered and solid air defense missile shield, but the Democratic Party called me a warmonger."
He continued, "They are saying exactly the same things as North Korea. Their thinking is identical to Pyongyang's," and questioned, "Currently, 40 divisions from both North and South are facing each other across the Demilitarized Zone, with thousands of missiles and multiple rocket launchers deployed. Is this a situation of armistice? Is now the time to declare the end of the war? What good would that do? Would North Korea stop firing missiles and provocations if that happened?"

While criticizing the government and ruling party, Yoon emphasized that there are many excellent politicians in the Democratic Party and pledged to achieve national unity through cooperation with them. He said, "I believe there are many sensible politicians in the Democratic Party of Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and the Uri Party. However, those people are vulnerable to the left-wing power struggles within the Democratic Party," and promised, "If, with your overwhelming support, I and the People Power Party take charge of the government, we will achieve national unity through reasonable cooperation with Democratic Party politicians and conduct politics by reflecting the opinions of the people."
