Naju-si Surpasses 76% Payment Rate for 2nd Disaster Relief Fund
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The payment rate of the 2nd disaster relief fund in Naju City, Jeollanam-do, has exceeded 76%.
The city announced on the 22nd that, to overcome COVID-19 and quickly restore daily life, it has been providing all citizens with 100,000 KRW in Naju Love Gift Certificates since the 14th.
As of the 21st, one week after the payment started, 88,825 people, or 76.11% of the 116,709 eligible recipients, have received the support fund.
So far, 8.8 billion KRW worth of local currency, which prevents capital outflow and promotes a virtuous cycle of consumption, has circulated in the market, expected to boost citizens' consumer sentiment and contribute to the recovery of sales in small businesses and self-employed sectors in local neighborhoods.
The area with the highest payment rate was Bonghwang-myeon at 95.6%, followed by Dasi-myeon (94.4%), Munpyeong-myeon (93.6%), and Geumcheon-myeon (90.3%), with four myeon areas surpassing a 90% payment rate.
In the two most populous areas in the jurisdiction, Bitgaram-dong and Nampyeong-eup, the payment rates were recorded at 65.7% and 69.1%, respectively.
With about a week left until the end of the 2nd disaster relief fund payment period, the city is intensifying final promotions to achieve a 100% payment rate and actively encouraging applications.
In particular, considering the working conditions of office workers, some eup, myeon, and dong areas including Bitgaram-dong and Nampyeong-eup will provide disaster relief funds on weekends only for those who made prior reservations.
Those who have not applied can visit the administrative welfare centers of their resident registration address eup, myeon, or dong by the 28th, based on the status as of the 24th of last month.
A city official said, “Despite difficult financial conditions, we hope that the disaster relief fund, prepared with the priority of recovering the livelihood economy following last February, will provide small comfort to citizens and local neighborhoods,” adding, “We urge everyone to apply and use the disaster relief fund in local neighborhoods as soon as possible so that it can be a catalyst for coexistence and recovery.”
