LG OLED TV Digital Exhibition Implementing NFT at Starfield Hanam
Participation in the ‘Amulet Horyeong Exhibition’
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] LG Electronics announced on the 22nd that it will participate in an exhibition of digital artworks implementing non-fungible tokens (NFTs), leveraging the strengths of its self-emissive OLED TVs.
From today until the 9th of next month, LG Electronics has installed about 20 LG OLED TVs at Starfield Hanam in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, where the exhibition "Amulet Horyeong 展_Waking the Tiger" is being held.
This exhibition, themed around the tiger to mark the Year of the Black Tiger, showcases original artworks at Gallery One in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, and digital artworks converted into NFTs displayed on OLED TVs at Starfield Hanam.
The exhibition features 38 renowned domestic artists, including the modern art master and portrait painter Kang Hyung-gu, charcoal artist Lee Jae-sam, pioneering artist Heo Hoe-tae of the imography genre that reinterprets traditional calligraphy as painting, and Woo Guk-won, known for his works with intense colors and unique textures.
NFT is a technology that uses blockchain to assign unique identification values to content. Digital artworks created based on this technology are considered to have rarity and unique value comparable to originals, as they cannot be copied or forged.
LG OLED TVs have the advantage of each pixel emitting its own light and finely controlling it, enabling delicate image expression. They reproduce colors naturally without exaggeration, making them suitable for art exhibitions.
Since last year, LG Electronics has been highlighting the strengths of self-emissive OLED, differentiated from LCD, through the OLED Art project, strengthening its brand leadership as "an OLED TV that inspires art and is preferred by artists."
Later this month, LG Electronics plans to launch the Drops Gallery service in collaboration with Ground X, Kakao’s blockchain subsidiary, allowing users to view NFT artworks purchased and stored in Kakao’s digital wallet Klip on their TVs.
