Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk Expands Eco-Friendly Vehicle Distribution... 716 Subsidies This Year
Exclusion from Support for Vehicles with Recommended Consumer Price Over 85 Million Won
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yeo Jong-gu] Pohang City, Gyeongbuk announced on the 21st that it will support the purchase of a total of 716 electric vehicles in the first half of this year, including 520 passenger cars, 190 cargo trucks, and 6 medium-sized buses, and plans to additionally support the purchase of 327 vehicles in the second half.
The replacement of old diesel vehicles aims to reduce greenhouse gases caused by climate change and improve air quality by expanding the transition to eco-friendly vehicles in public transportation sectors such as electric cargo trucks, taxis, children's school buses, and hydrogen vehicles.
Eligible applicants include citizens aged 18 or older with an address in Pohang City at least 60 days prior to the subsidy application, as well as corporations, public institutions, and local public enterprises.
Electric passenger cars will receive up to 13 million KRW per vehicle, and electric cargo trucks up to 20.4 million KRW per vehicle. Applications will be accepted starting from the 23rd through the Zero-Emission Vehicle Purchase Subsidy System.
For electric passenger cars, vehicles with a recommended retail price under 55 million KRW will receive up to 13 million KRW, and those under 85 million KRW will receive 50% of the subsidy, with a minimum of 4.75 million KRW depending on the model.
However, vehicles priced at 85 million KRW or above are excluded from subsidy support.
