Former Gwangju National University of Education President Lee Jeong-seon Announces Candidacy for Gwangju Superintendent of Education
"Innovative, Diverse, Future-Oriented, Responsible, and Coexistent: Expanding Greater Inclusive Education"
On the 21st, Lee Jeong-seon, former president of Gwangju National University of Education, declared his candidacy for Gwangju Superintendent of Education at Gwangju Seoseok Elementary School.

On the 21st, in front of Seoseok Elementary School in Gwangju, former President Lee stated, "Gwangju education is at a time that requires a major transformation to leap into the future," and declared, "Together with the citizens of Gwangju, I will realize better Gwangju education through greater inclusive education."
He pointed out, "The results of the past 12 years of Gwangju education, such as creating a democratic school culture through innovative education, nationalizing the May 18 Democratic Movement education, and expanding universal educational welfare, should be continued, but there were also regrets in areas such as dichotomous one-way administration, decline in basic academic skills, and preparation for future education."
He continued, "While inheriting the achievements of innovative education, I will eliminate elements of division and conflict and create better Gwangju education through greater inclusive education that can leap toward the future," emphasizing this point.
Former President Lee presented, "Greater inclusive education embraces the values of innovation, diversity, future, responsibility, and coexistence," adding, "I will continue innovation in all areas of Gwangju education, implement student-tailored diversity education, future education linked with AI, digital, and 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, responsible education that does not give up on even a single child including slow learners and those who think differently, and coexistence education where schools and communities grow together."
He announced ten promises to create better Gwangju education, including ▲the safest schools from infectious diseases, food safety, and violence ▲solid academic skills in Gwangju education ▲AI-based future education ▲responsibility system for all students' career and college admissions ▲globalization of May 18 education to spread democratic human rights and peace education ▲promotion of cultural, arts, and physical education leading K-culture ▲education for all realizing diversity in learning ▲strengthening climate and environmental education to save the Earth ▲promotion of living SOC school complex facilities.
Former President Lee said, "A reasonable education expert with a high understanding of school sites and insight into international trends and advanced education is needed on the path of major transformation of Gwangju education to leap into the future and head toward the world," adding, "I, Lee Jeong-seon, an education expert who has devoted 40 years solely to education, will achieve the major transformation of Gwangju education together with the citizens of Gwangju."
At the candidacy declaration ceremony, a signing ceremony for the 'Promise with Gwangju Citizens,' pledging a policy election and clean election, and various participatory performances aiming for 'greater inclusive education' were also held.
