Gwangju Seo-gu Supports Installation of 'Standing Tables'... Up to 1 Million Won
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that it will invest a budget of 16 million KRW this year to promote the 'Standing Table Installation Support Project' for the convenience of foreigners and elderly people who feel uncomfortable using low tables at restaurants.
The support targets general restaurants mainly serving meals that have been in operation for more than six months. After surveying businesses wishing to install standing tables and verifying eligibility, 50% of the installation cost will be supported up to a limit of 1 million KRW per business.
The selection criteria prioritize restaurants participating in food culture improvement projects such as hygiene rating and safe restaurants, as well as businesses around food culture specialized streets where all tables are low tables.
Business operators must maintain and manage the installed tables for more than two years.
Previously, Seo-gu enacted an ordinance on the creation of a standing table culture in general restaurants in 2013 as part of the food service environment improvement project, and carried out a standing table project worth about 168 million KRW targeting 115 locations until 2021.
Through this project, most restaurants have converted to standing tables, contributing to the global dining culture.
Restaurants wishing to participate in the standing table installation support can visit or send mail to the Health and Hygiene Division of Seo-gu Office by the 18th of next month.
