The National Non-Union Courier Drivers Alliance (Non-Union Alliance) made this statement in a press release protesting the Courier Union's solidarity strike on the same day.
Kim Seul-gi, representative of the Non-Union Courier Alliance, said, "At a time when distribution companies like Coupang are closely watching the courier market and aiming to expand their business," adding, "I want to ask if leading a solidarity strike like this is not breaking the livelihood of all our courier drivers."
In particular, Representative Kim pointed out that the Courier Union has continued meaningless actions so far. He said, "There are no longer any citizens supporting the Courier Union," and asked, "Do you think things will change if the number of participants increases by a few more days here?" He added, "It will only worsen the image."
He emphasized, "On Friday the 18th, they attempted a rally and forceful entry at the Gonjiam hub, but even if they succeed, do you think they will really gain anything?" and said, "Nothing can be gained through such methods."
Representative Kim pointed out that the union has become a group existing above the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the government, which should stop this, is standing by. He claimed, "It seems the union has become a group existing above the laws of the Republic of Korea," and "Even when all incidents arise through illegality and violence and become issues, the government unilaterally allows assaults under the absurd pretext of labor-management relations."
He appealed once again to the government, saying, "No matter how unstable the situation is due to the presidential election and COVID-19 issues, the Republic of Korea is a country governed by law, and its citizens should not be threatened or mocked by those breaking the law." He added, "Please punish those who commit violence and illegality severely."
Finally, he emphasized, "The strike must stop, and workers must return to their workplaces and resume work," adding, "Apologize to fellow drivers who have lost clients, apologize to the citizens who do not receive their parcels on time, and apologize to CJ Logistics, which is suffering losses."
