LG Uplus to Attend MWC 2022 "Discussing 5G Business Plans with Big Tech"
Expectations for Expanding Export Channels of U+5G Services and Content
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] LG Uplus announced on the 20th that its CEO Hwang Hyun-sik and an executive delegation will discuss 5G business cooperation plans with global big tech companies at the world's largest mobile and telecommunications exhibition, ‘Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2022’.
MWC, hosted by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), is an annual event where telecom companies and big tech firms gather to share business directions and technology trends. This year's event, held from February 28 to March 3 in Barcelona, Spain, is themed ‘Connectivity Unleashed’ and features exhibitions related to 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Through this participation, LG Uplus aims to explore business cooperation opportunities with big tech companies in the open radio access network (O-RAN) ecosystem development, cloud transformation of 5G network infrastructure, and extended virtual worlds (metaverse) sectors. It will also expand export channels for U+5G services and content, which have been ongoing since the commercialization of 5G in 2019. At Exhibition Hall 2, a buyer meeting area and a demonstration zone for mixed reality (XR) content have been prepared.
