[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] As the Omicron variant spreads widely, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Gyeongnam has exceeded 4,000 daily for consecutive days.
According to Gyeongsangnam-do on the 18th, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases as of midnight was 4,633, bringing the cumulative total to 68,770. Except for 13 cases from overseas arrivals, all others are local infections.
By region, Changwon recorded 1,444 cases, marking over 1,000 cases for three consecutive days. Other areas reported Jinju 520, Tongyeong 189, Sacheon 120, Gimhae 885, Miryang 119, Geoje 296, Yangsan 549, Uiryeong 23, Haman 52, Changnyeong 112, Goseong 62, Namhae 26, Hadong 30, Sancheong 34, Hamyang 43, Geochang 82, Hapcheon 36, totaling confirmed cases across all 18 cities and counties in the province.
The 119th death in the province was also reported. The health authorities stated that a patient in their 90s who was undergoing inpatient treatment passed away.
Accordingly, the cumulative confirmed cases in the province have risen to 68,770 (801 hospitalized, 23,041 under home treatment, 44,809 discharged, 119 deceased).
