Gochang-gun Installs Road Heating Systems on Cheongnyong-gil and Dongsan-gil

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced on the 18th that it will install road heating cables on steep roads in the area as part of winter anti-icing measures.

The installation sections are three locations in Gochang-eup, which are habitual icy areas in winter: ▲Cheongnyong-gil (from the Cultural Experience Center to Yujin Cheongha Apartment) 200m ▲Dongsan-gil (Seongsan Apartment entrance) 100m ▲Namjeong 2-gil (from Yeonheung Laundry to Setbyeol Kindergarten) 100m.

These areas have a high risk of slipping accidents due to snow and ice in winter.

The county secured 300 million won from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's special disaster safety grant in October last year for the road heating cable installation project to minimize residents' inconvenience caused by heavy snowfall and strengthen initial response capabilities, and plans to complete the installation of 400m of heating cables in the three sections by June.

The road heating cables installed under the asphalt road surface operate automatically through sensors on the surface during snowfall, generating heat to melt snow in a smart automatic control system.

This allows immediate snow melting during heavy snowfall, enabling efficient snow removal through proactive response, and is an eco-friendly snow removal method that reduces the use of environmentally harmful calcium chloride for de-icing.

Kim Wancheol, head of the Construction and Urban Department of the county, said, “By installing road heating cables, we will strengthen the proactive snow removal response system during heavy snowfall in winter to minimize traffic congestion and inconvenience, ensure residents' safety, and make further efforts to create a safe road environment.”
