'Daedo' Josehyung Caught Stealing Precious Metals Again at Age 80
[Asia Economy Reporter Gong Byung-sun] The police are set to apply for an arrest warrant for Jo Se-hyung (83), the most famous thief of the 1970s and 1980s, on charges of stealing precious metals again recently.
On the 18th, the Yongin Eastern Police Station announced that they had apprehended Jo on theft charges the previous day and are currently investigating him.
Last month, Jo, along with his accomplice Mr. A (63), was investigated for breaking into a house in Yangji-myeon, Yongin City, and stealing precious metals. The police, who were tracking the suspect, arrested Jo in the afternoon of the previous day.
A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant after completing the investigation today," adding, "The exact scale of the theft is still under investigation."

Jo has 16 prior convictions and was known as the so-called "modern-day Hong Gil-dong" for stealing precious metals from wealthy individuals. He is also famous for stealing diamonds from Jang Young-ja, who committed a promissory note fraud during the Chun Doo-hwan regime.
