Hwasun Scholarship Foundation Selects 200 Scholars... 215 Million Won Support

[Hwasun=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Ji-woon] The Hwasun Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 17th that it will select 200 Hwasun scholarship students this year and provide scholarships totaling 215 million KRW.

The Hwasun Scholarship Foundation will accept applications from the 21st of this month until the 4th of next month.

Eligibility requires that both the student and their parents (legal guardians) have been continuously registered residents of Hwasun-gun for more than one year as of the announcement date (February 17, 2022), and the applicant must be an elementary, middle, high school, or university student.

However, university students themselves may have addresses in other regions.

Elementary, middle, and high school students should apply through their schools, while university students should apply at the administrative welfare center of their residential eup/myeon.

The total number of selected students is 200: 50 elementary students, 40 middle school students, 40 high school students, and 70 university students.

The scholarship amounts per person are 300,000 KRW for elementary students, 500,000 KRW for middle school students, 1,000,000 KRW for high school students, and 2,000,000 KRW for university students, totaling 215 million KRW.

The university student scholarships are divided into three categories: academic excellence, special talents in arts, and welfare scholarships.

For the welfare scholarships, which plan to select 38 students, applicants must have a median income within 100%, and for a family of four, the monthly health insurance premium payment must be 168,000 KRW or less (based on workplace subscribers, combined parents) to be eligible.

The Hwasun Scholarship Foundation has been leading the development of local talent through its annual scholarship projects and has supported a total of 2,749 students with over 1.89 billion KRW to date.

As of the end of January, the scholarship fund has been raised to approximately 11.98 billion KRW, enabling stable scholarship operations.
