"Try Living Here Before Deciding" Chungnam Supports Inflow and Settlement of Youth from Other Regions
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is promoting customized youth policies to attract young people from other regions and support their settlement.
On the 17th, the province announced that it will operate the ‘Chungnam-type Youth Gap Year Program,’ which supports living experience in the region for 2 to 4 weeks, and the ‘Local Settlement-type Youth Program,’ which supports exchange and cooperation among local youth.
The programs will recruit participating cities and counties through a public contest until the 28th, select the cities and counties to carry out the projects next month, and begin full-scale operation from April.
The Chungnam-type Youth Gap Year focuses on providing young people from other regions with various local support resources and cultural experience opportunities to induce regional settlement and the formation of relational populations.
Specialized programs linked to local resources such as nature, culture, history, and figures are mandatorily operated, and cities and counties prepare and operate programs that help youth understand the region and decide on final migration through resident harmony, local experience, information acquisition, field trips, educational participation, and local sharing.
Last year, Buyeo, Cheongyang, and Taean provided local living experiences, giving young people considering migration an opportunity to reduce trial and error, with some actually migrating as a result.
The Local Settlement-type program is divided into the ‘Youth School,’ which supports education in fields such as economy, finance, culture, arts, and start-ups for youth residing in the province, and the ‘Youth Community’ project, which helps youth create a healthy youth culture through small club activities.
Last year, programs such as theater and film, the 4th industrial revolution, and certification acquisition courses were operated, receiving high satisfaction and great response.
This year, the province plans to select 10 cities and counties for the Local Settlement-type section and 3 cities and counties for the Chungnam-type Youth Gap Year section.
