Honam University Operates Customized 'Artificial Intelligence School' for Local Youth
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Honam University (President Park Sang-chul) announced on the 16th that it will develop a customized artificial intelligence education program for local community dreamers and strengthen AI capabilities of elementary and middle school students in the Naju area.
The "Warm Artificial Intelligence School," a collaboration between Honam University AI Big Data Research Institute and Naju Office of Education, plans to operate a "Customized AI Creative Convergence Education Course" covering humanities, history, arts, health, and other convergence courses, including AI understanding and literacy, autonomous vehicles, and computer engineering, for 28 weeks from April to December.
Baek Ran, director of the AI Big Data Research Institute (head of the AI Big Data Department), introduced, "The practical education consists of a 1st stage experience, coding practice, and on-site education implementing autonomous vehicles. We have prepared 12 problem-solving centered projects to cultivate the ability to predict and apply future technologies, from the history of AI to AI ethics."
This education consists of a total of five topics. The first topic, conducted by Professor Baek Ran, is the concept of AI, covering the history and background of AI and coding education for AI. The second topic, conducted by Professor Lee Sung-ah from the Teaching and Learning Development Center, covers "Entering the Metaverse" in another world domain.
The third topic, AI and medical field, is "Meeting AI Doctors in Medical Sites" (Professor Lim Kyung-yeol, Department of Speech Therapy). The fourth topic, AI ethics, is "Reading the AI Mind" (Professor Jang Eun-young, Department of Counseling Psychology). The final future technology AI topic is "Making Autonomous Vehicles" (Professor Lee Eun-kyung, Department of Future Automotive Engineering). Each will conduct the AI creative convergence education course.
Schools wishing to participate in the program can submit an application to the Education Support Division of the Naju Office of Education by March 15.

Meanwhile, Honam University AI Big Data Research Institute conducted research on developing a data school program based on core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution (AI) through the 2021 Korea Maritime University AI Education Innovation Research Project and the Next Generation Engineering Research Institute.
