LG Energy Solution Hosts 'Partners Day' Gathering Global Secondary Battery Partners
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] LG Energy Solution announced on the 16th that it held the '2022 Partners Day' for mutual growth and cooperation with domestic and international partner companies.
At the event, 86 global partner companies participated online. From LG Energy Solution, Vice Chairman and CEO Kwon Young-soo, President and CPO (Chief Production and Purchasing Officer) Kim Myung-hwan, Vice President and CQO (Chief Quality Officer) Kim Soo-ryeong, and Executive Director and Head of Purchasing Center Kim Dong-soo attended.
At this event, LG Energy Solution shared this year's purchasing operation plans, quality assurance measures, and global battery market outlooks including electric vehicles and ESS (Energy Storage Systems). In particular, LG Energy Solution emphasized that for both LG Energy Solution and its partners to establish global competitiveness, the stability of raw material supply and price competitiveness, expansion of local production capacity, and top-level quality from partner companies must be supported.
Since its launch in 2019 as part of LG Chem's battery business division, LG Energy Solution has annually discussed major plans with partner companies through the Win-Win Growth Conference held at the beginning of each year. Especially from this year, to overcome management uncertainties such as the pandemic and economic recession and to further solidify its position as a global battery leader, LG Energy Solution plans to strengthen cooperation with its partners.
To this end, LG Energy Solution recently established a Battery Cell and Pack Win-Win Team within the purchasing division. This organization supports various innovation activities of partner companies by utilizing LG Energy Solution’s experience and technological capabilities. It plans to carry out both short-term tasks such as securing cost competitiveness through productivity improvement and logistics cost reduction, and mid- to long-term tasks including building a localized value chain and supporting the discovery of new technologies. The term for partner companies has been changed from the previous 'collaborating companies' to 'partners,' and the event name has been changed from 'Win-Win Growth Conference' to 'Partners Day.'
In his welcoming remarks, Vice Chairman Kwon said, “An important keyword in preparing for the future of the explosively growing battery industry is ‘mutual growth and cooperation’ with our partners. We will actively engage in strategic partnerships with domestic and international partners to improve quality and secure profitability, achieving ‘win-win growth.’”
Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution is actively supporting various educational activities as well as support for quality, technology, and productivity innovation to promote mutual growth with its partners.
The Win-Win Growth Investment Support Fund is a representative example. LG Energy Solution established a 150 billion KRW scale investment support fund in 2020 to provide financial support such as preferential interest rates for equipment and operating funds for small and medium-sized enterprises. It also actively supports improvements in manufacturing processes and strengthening quality management systems so that partners can secure high levels of quality competitiveness and profitability.
