Goseong-gun Halts Senior Centers and Elderly Classes Due to Omicron Surge
Maintaining COVID-19 Spread Prevention and Emergency Safety Services
Thorough Facility Disinfection Inspections Until Separate Lifting
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has completely suspended the operation of 329 senior centers and 3 senior classrooms in the area since the 14th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 variant viruses.
This decision was made due to concerns about mass infections among local elderly caused by the Omicron variant virus outbreak and the judgment that additional vaccinations are necessary for users of high-risk group facilities such as senior centers.
All senior centers and senior classrooms will remain closed until the COVID-19 spread stabilizes, and a quarantine management officer will be appointed in each senior center to conduct regular facility inspections.
The suspension period is from February 14 until further notice, and except for essential tasks that can be conducted through non-face-to-face programs such as customized elderly services and emergency safety services for solitary elderly, operations will be simplified.
