Lee Jae-myung's Side: "We Can Have an Outstanding Person Like Yoo Seung-min in the Cabinet"
"If You Agree to Political Change, Appointments Will Be Made Regardless of Party"
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Jeong Seong-ho, head of the Democratic Party's presidential campaign special advisory group, stated that they can welcome outstanding talents like former People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Seung-min to the "People's Cabinet" and "Unified Government."
On the 15th, in an interview with CBS Radio's "Kim Hyun-jung's News Show," when asked about candidate Lee Jae-myung's remark that he would form a "unified government with a people's cabinet," Jeong explained, "Regardless of the election process, it means working together with everyone who agrees on national unity or political change." Prefacing his statement as "my personal opinion," Jeong said, "People like former candidate Yoo Seung-min are very capable." He emphasized that "if such people agree to overcome the crisis and are given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, they can definitely be appointed," adding that someone like Yoo Seung-min is fully qualified to be a key minister.
Jeong said, "I have never personally contacted (former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min)," adding, "Meeting under these circumstances could cause misunderstandings." He also mentioned, "Personally, I like him as a politician because he is competent and has dignity and grace."
Regarding the issue of unifying opposition presidential candidates, he expressed a skeptical view, questioning whether it could be achieved. About the start of unification talks between People Power Party presidential candidate Yoon Seok-youl and People’s Party presidential candidate Ahn Cheol-soo, he pointed out, "If the unified candidate is decided not by public opinion polls but by a final negotiation, it seems that Ahn Cheol-soo will withdraw again."

He said, "The discussion on unifying opposition candidates has been a repeated agenda and will not greatly impress the public." He also predicted, "Conversely, candidate Yoon currently has three to four times the support rate of candidate Ahn, so he will not concede the candidacy through negotiation." Regarding some reports that Ahn’s camp and the Democratic Party have been conducting behind-the-scenes contacts, he said, "To overcome the current crisis, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate, believes that they must join forces. Rather than having a specific person in mind, he promised the public ideas that can fundamentally change the political landscape."
