Gyeongbuk Office of Education Leads Efforts to Foster Compliance with Public Official Election Act
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] The Gyeongbuk Office of Education has decided to establish measures to foster a culture of election neutrality among its employees and prevent violations in preparation for the 20th presidential election and the 8th simultaneous nationwide local elections to be held this year.
Education officials themselves will take the lead in creating an atmosphere of compliance with the Public Official Election Act.
The Public Official Election Act stipulates strict political neutrality for public officials, including obligations of election neutrality, prohibition of election involvement by public officials, prohibition of acts influencing elections by public officials, and prohibition of donation acts.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education is implementing various measures to prevent 'election law violations' that may occur in relation to employees' duties and to enhance understanding of election-related laws.
All employees will thoroughly review whether any activities such as achievement promotion events, publication of promotional materials, donation acts, and involvement in election campaigns using the internet and SNS violate the Public Official Election Act to ensure no possibility of election law violations arises during all work processes.
The Office of Education is conducting thorough education on the Public Official Election Act for affiliated institutions directly under the headquarters and education support offices during various meetings, and plans to conduct similar education for schools at all levels.
