Recruitment of 20 New Institutions for Public Sanitary Pad Support Project...Sanitary Pad Storage Boxes and Sanitary Pad Support Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 14th that it will expand the number of public institutions equipped with public sanitary pads to 286 locations and is recruiting 20 new institutions for this purpose.
The recruitment period is one month from the 15th to March 14th. Public institutions wishing to participate, including libraries, museums, and youth organizations, can contact the YMCA Public Sanitary Pad Support Team, a Seoul city subsidized project operator, for detailed guidance.
The Seoul Public Sanitary Pad Support Project received the UN Public Administration Award in 2019 and was ranked second among excellent Seoul city policies chosen by foreigners. It has since expanded nationwide and has been benchmarked by other local governments such as Gyeonggi-do, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Daejeon City. In October 2021, at the request of the UN, the project’s achievements were presented to member countries.
Meanwhile, to promote the culture of providing public sanitary pads, Seoul also uses donated sanitary pads to support private institutions in stocking sanitary pads and to assist women in blind spots. Since 2019, 867,756 sanitary pads have been donated by private companies.
