Cheong "The President is managing inflation... Strong will, great interest, and relentless effort"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Blue House stated that South Korea's inflation rate is relatively low compared to the global average, emphasizing that "President Moon Jae-in's determination and attention to price management are immense and relentless."
Park Soo-hyun, the Blue House Chief of Public Communication, posted on Facebook on the 13th in a segment titled 'Stories about the President not included in the briefing,' saying, "Even if we consider only from last June, when I started working again at the Blue House as the Chief of Public Communication, until the end of January this year, the President issued as many as 11 directives related to consumer prices during staff meetings."
He also highlighted that President Moon mentioned measures to stabilize prices multiple times during staff meetings held in June, October, and November of last year, as well as on the 28th of last month.
Park explained, "There is a nickname I use for the Chief of Economic Staff during the daily morning staff meetings, which is 'Egg Chief.' While said half-jokingly, it means that related prices are frequently reported and directives are issued in front of the President."
Park emphasized, "Last year, South Korea recorded an annual inflation rate of 2.5%, which is relatively low compared to other countries (United States 4.7%, Canada 3.4%, Germany 3.1%, Spain 3.1%). However, under the serious recognition that domestic and international price conditions this year are not easy, we are making every effort to stabilize prices."
