[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Dong-gyun, Mayor of Mapo District, encouraged the personnel working on the oil stain removal in Hongjecheon at 11 a.m. on the 12th.
The oil stain removal work in Hongjecheon involved 40 Mapo District staff members and 8 support personnel from Seodaemun District.
Six adsorption booms were installed to prevent inflow into the Han River, and about 2,000 adsorption pads were deployed to prevent river water pollution. The oil stain removal work is scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m. on the 12th.

This oil inflow accident occurred last month in November, when oil flowed into the river from the stormwater pipe near Yeongagyo Bridge in Seodaemun District. Immediately after the accident, officials from the Mapo District Environment and Flood Control Departments rushed to the site, installed oil containment barriers, and have been continuously working on oil stain removal.
