An Eyesore Turned Asset in the City... Changwon-si Greatly Increases Subsidies for the 'Vacant House Maintenance Support Project'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Changwon City in Gyeongnam has significantly increased the subsidies for the annual 'Vacant House Maintenance Support Project.'
According to Changwon City on the 10th, this project is promoted to maintain vacant houses left unattended in urban areas that cause social problems such as collapse, fire hazards, and crime risks.
In 2021, the subsidy for demolishing vacant houses unoccupied for more than a year was up to 3 million KRW for simple demolition, but this year it has been increased to 7 million KRW. When the site is provided for use as public land after maintenance, the maximum subsidy has been significantly raised from 5 million KRW to 10 million KRW.
Through this realistic subsidy support, the city plans to encourage vacant house owners to voluntarily demolish their properties, thereby improving the residential environment in urban areas and utilizing the vacant house sites to alleviate parking shortages and revitalize the city.
Applications can be submitted for one month starting from the 16th at the Architecture Permit Division of the district office or the Administrative Welfare Center where the vacant house is located. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Housing Policy Division of Changwon City or the Architecture Permit Division of the district office.
