LifeSemantics' 'DoctorCall' Launches Remote Medical Services for Overseas Koreans in the US
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Digital healthcare specialist LifeSemantics is launching a telemedicine service for overseas Koreans in the United States.
LifeSemantics announced on the 10th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MetaK Intelligence for a business partnership in the telemedicine sector.
MetaK Intelligence signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce in November last year, pledging to provide various services including ▲telemedicine ▲medical tourism ▲personalized health management and promotion.
Through this agreement, LifeSemantics will exclusively provide the telemedicine platform 'Dr. Call' to 2.5 million Korean merchants residing in the U.S. and members of the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce.
The two companies plan to expand the Dr. Call telemedicine service business model to other countries if it succeeds with overseas Koreans in the U.S., and also jointly pursue technology development linked to the metaverse and government projects.
'Dr. Call' is the first domestic telemedicine platform to receive temporary approval for telemedicine services targeting overseas Koreans as the first private regulatory sandbox in June 2020. After going through insurance enrollment and other processes, the first consultation was conducted in June last year. This is the first time the service is provided to overseas Korean community organizations.
When patients provide basic health information data (blood pressure, blood sugar, body temperature, heart rate, activity level) and make a consultation reservation on Dr. Call, medical staff from top-tier general hospitals in Korea offer video consultations, online counseling, and secondary opinion services to address medical inquiries from overseas Koreans. If necessary, AI treatment solutions can also be supported after consultation with relevant ministries.
At this time, sensitive personal information of patients sent to hospitals is managed integrally on LifeSemantics' personal health record (PHR) commercialization platform 'LifeRecord.' LifeRecord has obtained ISMS-P (Information Security Management System-Personal Information Protection) and U.S. healthcare information protection law HIPAA compliance certifications, demonstrating global-level advanced security technology.
