Online Contest, Up to 1 Billion KRW Support by Scale
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 9th that it will newly launch the "National Performing Arts Creation, Production, and Distribution Cooperation Ecosystem Establishment Project," which supports the production and distribution costs of collaborative performances between theaters and performing groups nationwide, in partnership with the Arts Management Support Center Foundation.
This project aims to revitalize the performing arts creation and production environment, which has been stagnant since the spread of COVID-19, and to support the enjoyment of high-quality performing arts anywhere in the country.
The support conditions are ▲the main performance fields must be theater, musical, music, dance, traditional, or multi-arts ▲collaboration between theaters and performing groups ▲performances that can be held this year in at least two regional theaters outside Seoul.
The total support scale is 8.5 billion KRW, and the recipients will be selected in April based on the validity of the project plan, excellence of collaboration, artistic excellence of the work, and sustainability of distribution and dissemination. The support amount will vary depending on the scale, nature, and number of performances.
Selected theaters and performing groups will receive support not only for production and distribution costs but also for performance-related technologies such as stage, sound, and advanced technology, as well as education and consultation on accounting, copyright, legal matters, and investment.
Furthermore, it is possible to promote overseas performances and link advanced technologies using programs such as the "Seoul Art Market" and the "K-Musical International Market," where domestic and international performing arts experts communicate to attract domestic and foreign investment and support overseas expansion, as well as the complex cultural space "Art Culture Lab," which comprehensively supports all aspects of artistic activities including creation, production, exchange, education, demonstration, distribution, start-ups, and new occupations.
The application period runs from the 10th of this month to the 23rd of next month through the "Inara Doum" website. The Arts Management Support Center plans to hold a project briefing session within this month.
