Namwon-si Secures 8 Billion Won to Support 'Agricultural Welfare Services'
[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-gwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk Province, announced on the 9th that it has secured 8 billion KRW for seven agricultural welfare projects in 2022 and will support welfare services for farmers with the goal of "realizing customized welfare agriculture."
The city will support 1.2 billion KRW for five projects targeting female farmers in rural areas and vulnerable farming households.
To reduce the burden of balancing childcare, housework, and farming tasks, support will be provided for childbirth helpers to female farmers who have given birth or are expecting, and convenience equipment for female farmers (six types including farming work tables) will be supplied to improve their work efficiency.
For vulnerable farming households struggling with farming activities due to accidents or illnesses, farming helpers will be supported to enable stable farming activities, and two women's farmer centers will be operated to provide services such as infant care, after-school learning guidance, grievance counseling, and programs for the elderly.
Support for the Female Farmer Saengsaeng Card will also be expanded.
Previously limited to those up to 75 years old, the budget has been secured to extend support to elderly farmers over 75, allowing approximately 1,600 additional female farmers to receive benefits for cultural and leisure activities compared to last year.
The city will support 6.8 billion KRW for two projects aimed at supporting farming activities and stabilizing farm household income for farmers.
During the busy farming season, joint meal services will be promoted by providing cooks and food expenses to rural villages facing labor shortages and aging populations. To enhance the public functions of agriculture and rural areas and stabilize farmers' incomes, a farmer's public interest allowance (farmer's allowance) of 600,000 KRW per household will also be provided.
Applications can be submitted at the administrative welfare centers in the applicant's town, township, or neighborhood from April 1 to April 30. After data entry and verification, approximately 11,000 households will receive 6.7 billion KRW in support.
A city official stated, "We will actively discover and support agricultural welfare projects to create a sustainable agricultural and rural environment, improve the quality of life for farmers, and stabilize farm household income."
