For the position of Director of Policy, Lee Gye-jun, principal of Suncheon Byeollyang Middle School who completed his term as a public recruitment principal, was abruptly selected and appointed.
Newly appointed Director of Education Jo Jeong-ja, who is known for being gentle, stable, and having excellent work execution skills, will begin her new duties as Jeonnam's first female Director of Education starting next month on the 1st.
New Director of Policy Lee Gye-jun is praised for playing a significant role in bringing waves of innovation to many schools in Jeonnam during his tenure as principal, which is analyzed as reflecting Superintendent Jang Seok-woong's competency-based personnel policy.
Additionally, Kim Seol-oh, principal of Maeseong High School, was appointed as Director of Policy Planning; Kim Yoo-dong, supervisor of the Innovation School Team in the Innovation Education Division, as Director of Innovation Education; Jo Young-rae, Director of Physical Education, Health, and Arts, as Director of Democratic Citizenship and Life Education; and Yang Gi-yeol, supervisor of the Physical Education Team in the Physical Education, Health, and Arts Division, as Director of Physical Education and Health.
Yoon Ki-jung, principal of Damyang Middle School, was appointed as Director of the Education Training Institute; Kim Tae-moon, head of the Policy Planning Division at the headquarters, as Director of the Student Education and Culture Center; Choi Kwang-pyo, head of the Education Support Division at Muan Education Support Office, as Director of Yeongam Education Support Office; and Beom Mi-kyung, head of the Innovation Education Division at the headquarters, as Director of Hampyeong Education Support Office.
This major personnel appointment focused on selecting talented individuals with expertise and capabilities who can realize the philosophy and values of Jeonnam education together with the educational community for the sustainable future of Jeonnam education.
The Office of Education expects that the bold personnel decisions, including appointing a principal without prior experience in educational professional positions as Director of Policy, appointing a female Director of Education, and competency-based appointments to strengthen regional education support, will bring new changes to Jeonnam education.
