[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Shin Hyun-guk, chairman of Geo Element, donated 100 million KRW to Chung-Ang University Medical Center for the construction of Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital, which is scheduled to open next month.
On the 7th, Chung-Ang University Medical Center held a development fund donation ceremony at Chung-Ang University Hospital attended by Park Sang-gyu, president of Chung-Ang University, Hong Chang-kwon, director of Chung-Ang University Medical Center, and Chairman Shin.
Last year, Chairman Shin expressed his gratitude to the faculty and staff of Chung-Ang University Medical Center who worked hard for COVID-19 prevention and treatment by donating 3,200 sets of functional mask packs through his affiliate Geo & Wiz. This time, he delivered 100 million KRW to support the successful opening of Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital.
Chairman Shin, who graduated from Chung-Ang University’s Department of Chemistry and founded Geo Element, a semiconductor equipment and parts manufacturer, in 2005, is currently serving as the 16th president of the Chung-Ang University Alumni Association, working hard for the development of his alma mater. Additionally, since July last year, he has been co-chairman of the ‘Chung-Ang Medical Innovation Committee,’ launched jointly by Chung-Ang University and the Medical Center, actively engaging in the mid- to long-term development of the university and medical center.
At the donation ceremony, Chairman Shin said, "Although it is a small contribution, I am honored to be able to support my alma mater and Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital, which is set to open in March," adding, "I expect the opening of Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital to play a key role not only in the leap forward of Chung-Ang University Medical Center but also in the advancement of Korea’s medical industry."
