[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Seoul Metro and medical institution 365mc Networks delivered the donation funds accumulated from the ‘Art Health Donation Staircase’ to the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture on the 7th. The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced that the donation will be used to guarantee the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable groups such as artists with disabilities.
The ‘Art Health Donation Staircase’ is a staircase installed by Seoul Metro and 365mc in March 2017 at Gangnam-gu Office Station on Subway Line 7. Each time a subway passenger uses this staircase instead of the escalator, 365mc accumulates a donation of 20 won. In 2021, the number of users was approximately 440,000, with a total cumulative user count of about 2.33 million. The accumulated donation amount totals 8,929,880 won.
This donation will be fully utilized for projects to expand facilities that guarantee the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable groups, including artists with disabilities and disabled visitors using cultural and artistic spaces operated by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture. Since 2020, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture has received donations accumulated through the ‘Art Health Donation Staircase’ annually and has promoted the installation of wheelchair chargers and support for materials for the creative activities of artists with disabilities.
