NHN Integrates Game Subsidiaries into ‘NHN Bigfoot’... Annual Sales Reach 100 Billion KRW Scale
Leap to a Global P&E Game Specialist Producer
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] NHN is set to expand its gaming business in earnest. It is integrating its gaming subsidiaries around NHN Bigfoot and reorganizing its business structure.
NHN Bigfoot announced on the 7th that it has absorbed and merged NHN PixelCube and NHN RPG as of February 1.
NHN Bigfoot, which has honed its capabilities in the web board game sector by servicing titles such as 'Hangame Poker,' 'Hangame Seotda & Matgo,' and 'Baseball 9-dan,' is consolidating the strengths of ▲ mobile casual game specialist NHN PixelCube and ▲ NHN RPG, known for developing RPG and FPS genre games. Through this, it plans to leverage its successful experiences across various genres including web board, casual, sports, RPG, and FPS to enhance synergy in its gaming business.
With the integration of the three companies, NHN Bigfoot has established itself as a mid-sized game developer with annual sales of 100 billion KRW and a total of about 300 production and business personnel. Alongside Japan’s NHN PlayArt, a mobile game specialist company, it will play a central role in NHN’s gaming business.
The merged company will be led by CEO Kim Sang-ho of NHN Bigfoot. Kim joined NHN in 2003, overseeing NHN USA and managing game sourcing and publishing businesses. Since becoming CEO of NHN Bigfoot in 2018, he has steadily led NHN’s overall gaming business.
On this day, NHN Bigfoot held the 'V10 Live: NHN Bigfoot Internal Meeting' at the Play Museum in its Pangyo headquarters to share the company’s business direction and strategy.
The online meeting was attended by employees from NHN, NHN Bigfoot, and 14 affiliated group companies. CEO Kim Sang-ho presented NHN Bigfoot’s business vision, and production PDs and business leaders unveiled the 2022 game service lineup.
NHN Bigfoot plans to solidify its number one position in the domestic PC and mobile web board market with NHN’s flagship brand ‘Hangame’ and expand its competitiveness in the global market focusing on match-3 puzzle and social casino games. Additionally, it aims to pioneer the ‘P&E (Play and Earn)’ genre of money-making games and grow as a ‘P&E specialized production company.’
Upcoming releases include the casual strategy game ‘Guns Up Mobile,’ targeting the global market, scheduled for launch in the first quarter. A P&E sports game ‘Project WEMIX Sports (tentative title)’ utilizing blockchain ecosystem platforms is also planned for release.
Furthermore, the company will target the global market with ▲ ‘Uparu NFT Project’ leveraging the IP of NHN’s long-running game Uparu Mountain ▲ multiplayer video poker game ‘Double A Poker’ ▲ global match-3 puzzle game ▲ slot-based online social casino game ‘Slot Marble’ ▲ global root shooter ‘Project NOW’.
