On the 5th, a petition titled "Demanding Strong Punishment for the Perpetrators" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner, Mr. A, wrote, "Most online communities are posting memorial messages for BJ Jaemmi (the deceased YouTuber) and criticism of the malicious commenters," adding, "However, an anti-feminism male-dominated site that previously left malicious comments on Jaemmi is shifting the responsibility for the death elsewhere."
BJ Jaemmi was a YouTuber known to netizens for various content such as gaming and mukbang (eating broadcasts). However, in 2019, he faced severe criticism from some netizens for making a 'misandry' hand gesture during a live broadcast on the streaming site Twitch.
At the time, Jaemmi apologized, saying, "I am sorry to those who felt even a little uncomfortable and to those who did not," but it is reported that malicious comments and slander against him continued thereafter.
Since then, Jaemmi repeatedly expressed distress caused by malicious comments, and in 2020, he also shared the news of his mother's passing.

It further explained, "Jaemmi suffered from severe depression due to numerous malicious comments and rumors, which was the cause of (his suicide)." The bereaved family also added that they plan to take legal action against those spreading malicious rumors about Jaemmi.
In this regard, petitioner Mr. A also claimed, "Community users who drove Jaemmi to suicide should be strongly punished through IP tracking." This petition, which is about to be made public on the board, has received support from over 60,000 people.

Hwang Hee-du, director of the Democratic Research Institute and former professional gamer, wrote on Facebook, "Certain community malicious commenters and YouTubers still do not recognize the seriousness and try to shift responsibility onto others," adding, "The core issue is that due to the online mob lynching by tongue-assassin YouTubers and community malicious commenters, a mother and daughter family ended up in death."
Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party presidential candidate, mentioned Jaemmi at the second launch event of the support group "Women in Their 20s and 30s Support Sim Sang-jung" held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 6th.
Candidate Sim said, "I take this opportunity to offer my condolences to the deceased," and pointed out, "This is a crisis for women and a crisis for democracy. The fact that something like this happens to someone among us today means it can happen to any of us."
