Police Make 'Emergency Arrest' Based on Risk of Recidivism

On the 4th, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul announced that on the 3rd, they booked a man in his 20s, identified as A, a Chinese national, on charges of special assault, special intimidation, and property damage at a villa in Seodaemun-gu.
A, an international student, is accused of threatening and assaulting his girlfriend with a weapon around 10 a.m. yesterday. He is also charged with damaging a tablet PC and other items by throwing them during an argument with his girlfriend.
When the police responded to the report and arrived at A’s residence, the victim had already fled to another location.
Subsequently, the police found the victim nearby and discovered wounds on the victim’s neck and back of the hand, believed to have been caused by A.
The weapon believed to have been used by A was found in the house.
The police, considering the risk of reoffending, made an emergency arrest of A. The police stated, "We have currently booked him and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident."
