Jangseong-gun Implements 'Citizen Safety Insurance'... Coverage Up to 20 Million Won

[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is expanding the operation of the ‘Citizen Safety Insurance’ currently implemented for all residents starting this month.

According to the county on the 3rd, the Citizen Safety Insurance is a project that pays insurance benefits to Jangseong residents in the event of unpredictable disasters, accidents, or safety incidents.

It is a pledge project of the 7th local government administration, which started in 2019 and is now in its fourth year.

The coverage target is registered Jangseong residents on the resident registration, who are automatically enrolled without any separate subscription procedures.

Registered foreigners can also receive the same insurance benefits, and the insurance premium is fully covered by the county.

The coverage items include treatment costs for injuries from school zone traffic accidents, as well as ▲natural disasters such as heatstroke and sunstroke ▲explosions, fires, collapses ▲public transportation accidents ▲hit-and-run, uninsured vehicles ▲robbery ▲drowning accidents ▲injury death and aftereffects from agricultural machinery safety accidents, totaling 14 items.

This year, in preparation for the super-aged society, a new ‘Silver Zone Treatment Cost’ item has been added.

If a resident aged 65 or older is injured in a traffic accident in a senior protection zone (Silver Zone), compensation can be received differentially according to the grade.

The coverage amount can be compensated up to a maximum of 20 million KRW, and overlapping compensation is possible even if insured by other insurance.

If there is a reason to claim insurance money, contact the accident handling dedicated window of the Korea Local Finance Association, complete the application procedure, and then fill out the claim form according to the format posted on the association’s website.

The insurance claim period is within 3 years from the date of the accident.

A county official said, “We will continue to strive tirelessly to improve the quality of life of residents and make Jangseong, the Yellow City, a better place to live.”
