Jeju Fire Equipment Maintenance Training Center Operates 24-Hour Maintenance System

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Fire Equipment Maintenance and Training Center is making every effort to achieve 100% operation of fire equipment by establishing a 24-hour continuous maintenance system and a systematic equipment management system.

According to the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters on the 3rd, the Fire Equipment Maintenance and Training Center was opened in March 2018 as the third of its kind nationwide, with three above-ground floors and a total floor area of 606.6㎡.

Additionally, two professionals registered as automobile maintenance technicians and holding automobile maintenance certifications are assigned to the center.

The maintenance center contributes to eliminating deployment gaps by maintaining a 24-hour continuous operation system for fire equipment through regular maintenance and inspection of fire vehicles and equipment,巡回 maintenance at each center including island areas, and emergency dispatch inspections.

Since its opening until last year, a total of 1,613 maintenance and inspection cases of fire vehicles and equipment have saved approximately 770 million KRW in budget.

In December of last year, the center actively responded to the increasing demand for fire equipment inspection and maintenance by expanding the respiratory protection equipment maintenance room.

It is also actively leading efforts to improve fire equipment operational capabilities by conducting maintenance skill enhancement training for fire equipment personnel and new employees.

Park Geun-oh, head of the Fire Safety Headquarters, said, “The utilization of fire equipment is increasing at disaster sites,” and added, “We will make every effort to establish an emergency dispatch system by maintaining 100% operational status of fire equipment through prompt maintenance, inspection, and strengthened training.”
