Cold Weather, Burning Love... Gyeongbuk Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign Surpasses 16.9 Billion Won
Love Temperature 124 Degrees, Achieving Fundraising Goal for 11 Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Se-ryeong] The Gyeongbuk Province Hope 2022 Sharing Campaign recorded a fundraising amount of 16.974 billion won, surpassing the hope temperature of 100 degrees.
The campaign was held under the theme "Sharing, a social vaccine for everyone" from December 1, 2021, to January 31 of this year.
Although it started amid concerns that achieving the target amount would be more difficult than ever due to COVID-19 and the prolonged economic recession, the Love Temperature Tower surpassed 100 degrees within 40 days of the campaign's start.
By the last day of the campaign, January 31, the total amount raised was 16.974 billion won, exceeding the target of 13.74 billion won by 3.27 billion won, recording a hope temperature of 124 degrees.
Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that about 56% of the total donations came from individuals and 44% from corporations, showing a 2% decrease in individual contributions and a 2% increase in corporate contributions compared to last year.
POSCO, EcoPro BM, DGB Social Contribution Foundation, NongHyup Bank Gyeongbuk Branch, Korea Expressway Corporation, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and Gyeongsangbuk-do Development Corporation made donations in the hundreds of millions of won.
Companies such as Youngpoong Cultural Foundation, Samra, Interchem Korea, Poongsan, Buseong Development Opal Golf Club, IS Dongseo, and Ajin Industrial also participated with donations in the hundreds of millions of won.
This year, on its 13th anniversary, a middle school student who donated a year’s allowance, a family who donated to honor the late mother’s wish to help neighbors, two young people who donated their first salary from their first job, and children from a daycare center who donated with their small hands all raised the "mercury level" of the temperature tower with their heartfelt contributions.
The collected funds will be fully allocated to various welfare projects in the province, including economic poverty eradication, physical and emotional health and recovery, education and self-reliance capacity building, and alleviation of social inequality, supporting marginalized neighbors and welfare facilities.
Gyeongbuk Province stated, "This achievement was made possible by the hearts of sharing and helping each other, especially in difficult times," and added, "We have achieved the fundraising goal for 11 consecutive years thanks to the warmth of the residents."
