Nurse at Nursing Hospital Fined 1.5 Million Won for Submitting False Records and Taking Money
Falsifying Hundreds of Medical Records to Illegally Receive Nursing Care Benefits and Insurance Payments
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The court has sentenced nurses at a long-term care hospital who habitually falsified medical records to fraudulently receive long-term care benefits and insurance payments to fines.
The Chuncheon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Judge Jang Tae-young) announced on the 1st that it sentenced six nurses, including A (62, female), who were indicted for violating the Medical Service Act, to fines of 1.5 million won each.
Judge Jang pointed out, "This essentially formed the basis of a fraud crime where the hospital and patients deceived to obtain long-term care benefits or insurance payments."
He added, "However, all the defendants deeply regret their actions and feel a heavy sense of responsibility," and "It appears that it was difficult for them to go against the instructions and requests of the hospital director or the hospital where they worked."
The defendants were indicted for falsely preparing medical records of patient C under the direction of operator B while working at a long-term care hospital in Chuncheon City, from October 2016 to January 2019, ranging from 21 to as many as 336 times each.
