Gangbuk-gu, Up to 20 Million KRW Coverage for Insurance on Electric Assistive Devices for Disabled
Among registered disabled persons in Gangbuk-gu using electric assistive devices (wheelchairs, scooters), up to 20 million KRW third-party bodily injury and property damage compensation per accident guaranteed without separate enrollment procedures
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) became the first district in Seoul to subscribe to the ‘Gangbuk-gu Insurance for Electric Mobility Aids for the Disabled’ on the 24th of last month.
The district announced that it is promoting the insurance subscription to reduce the economic burden on disabled people in case of unexpected accidents occurring while operating electric mobility aids.
The insured are all registered disabled persons in Gangbuk-gu who use electric mobility aids.
The coverage includes third-party bodily injury and property damage liability arising from the insured’s operation of electric mobility aids. Bodily injury to the insured and damage to the electric mobility aids are excluded. Coverage of up to 20 million KRW per accident is available without a separate insurance subscription procedure, and the insurance premium for the insured is fully supported by the district.
Insurance claims can be made within three years from the date of the accident. Claims for safety accidents occurring from February 1 to January 31 of the following year can be applied for through WheelchairKorea.com.
