On the 30th, the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 3 (Judge Jihee Kim) announced that Mr. A (32), who was indicted for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, was sentenced to 6 months in prison with a 2-year suspension. Additionally, Mr. A was ordered to perform 80 hours of community service.
Mr. A was indicted on charges of insulting his second cousin Mr. B during an internet live broadcast with about 1,000 viewers at his residence in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, on January 30 of last year. At the time, Mr. A made defamatory remarks such as "Their mother ran away because their father couldn't live," and "Their mother is Jangbaljang, Shinchangwon," damaging Mr. B's reputation.

Investigations revealed that Mr. A harbored feelings of inferiority toward Mr. B, and after Mr. B scolded him for conducting a live broadcast at his grandmother's funeral, Mr. A committed the offense. The court stated, "Despite having been punished twice for similar offenses, Mr. A reoffended and has not been forgiven by the victim."
