Earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that North Korea launched one projectile, presumed to be a ballistic missile, from the Jagang Province area toward the East Sea at approximately 7:52 a.m. The missile's flight distance was detected to be about 800 km, with an altitude of approximately 2,000 km. The flight time appears to have been over 30 minutes. President Moon Jae-in held an emergency full meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) at 9:25 a.m. on the same day, classified North Korea's projectile as a "medium-range ballistic missile," and discussed countermeasures.
