Vice Minister Choi Jong-geon Meets with EU and French Ambassadors to Discuss 'Ukraine Situation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 27th, Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Maria Castillo Fernandez, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Korea, and Philippe Lefort, Ambassador of France to Korea.
The two ambassadors mentioned the recent tensions near the Ukraine border and explained the efforts of the EU and France for a peaceful resolution of the situation, requesting Korea's attention to the matter.
Ambassador Fernandez expressed full support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, stating the intention to impose sanctions on Russia if a military attack occurs. Ambassador Lefort also expressed support for an independent and democratic Ukraine and efforts to resume dialogue within the Normandy Format (involving Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany).
