"Fighting in Place of Girlfriend"... 40s Man Sentenced to Prison for Wielding Weapon Against Opponent Male
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 40s who wielded a weapon against the boyfriend of a woman after fighting on behalf of his girlfriend was sentenced to prison in the first trial.
The Seoul Northern District Court Criminal Division 11 (Chief Judge Go Chung-jung) sentenced A (48), who was detained and indicted on charges of attempted murder, to 3 years and 6 months in prison on the 21st.
A is accused of stabbing a man in his 40s, B, in eight places including his side and thigh with a weapon on a street in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, last September, causing injury.
It was reported that they came out to fight after seeing their girlfriends arguing over the phone. A surrendered to the police immediately after the crime and was arrested at the scene. B was also booked on charges of assaulting A, but the case was dismissed due to lack of prosecution as A did not want to press charges.
