[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 18th that "according to the plans of the National Defense Science Institute and the Second Economic Commission, among other relevant organizations, a tactical guided missile inspection firing test was conducted on the 17th."
According to photos from the Rodong Sinmun, this tactical guided missile appears to be the North Korean version of the ATACMS (KN-24).
The newspaper stated, "The inspection firing test was conducted with the purpose of selectively inspecting the tactical guided missiles being produced and verifying the accuracy of the weapon system," reporting that two tactical guided missiles successfully struck targets in the East Sea with precision.
It added, "The National Defense Science Institute confirmed the accuracy, safety, and operational effectiveness of this weapon system being produced."
