The required budget of 9 billion KRW was fully secured with county funds through a proactive main budget allocation at the end of last year, reflecting the county’s determination to quickly stabilize the local economy and livelihoods ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
The daily recovery support fund is available to anyone registered as a resident in Jangseong-gun as of 0:00 on January 1 of this year.
Marriage immigrants and permanent residents are also included.
Applications can be made by the head of the household visiting the local administrative welfare center with an ID card from the 17th until February 25.
However, considering resident convenience and social distancing guidelines in the densely populated Jangseong-eup, applications will be accepted at the county community center on weekdays during the first week and at each village hall on weekends. From the second week, starting on the 24th, applications will be accepted at the administrative welfare centers.
The county will verify eligibility immediately upon application and distribute 200,000 KRW worth of Jangseong Love Gift Certificates per person.
This amount is double the emergency disaster relief fund provided last year, and it is expected to not only aid economic recovery but also promote a swift return to daily life.
Small business owners have particularly high expectations.
Hwang In-gwan, who runs a snack bar in Jangseong-eup, said, “The amount has doubled compared to the emergency disaster relief fund provided before last year’s Lunar New Year holiday, so it is expected to greatly help management,” adding, “It is very welcome.”
For residents who have difficulty moving due to old age or illness, county officials or village chiefs will visit homes to assist with the application process for the support fund.
The county plans to distribute the support funds effectively according to the circumstances of each eup and myeon to ensure all residents can have a warm Lunar New Year holiday.
A county official said, “The pain experienced by small business owners, small-scale farmers, and local residents due to COVID-19 is great,” and added, “We will mobilize all possible administrative power to help all residents recover their daily lives as soon as possible.”
