Imsil-gun to Build 'International Archery Training Center'... Target Completion Next Year
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 13th that it will actively promote the construction of an international archery training center, including accommodations for archery athletes.
The county expects that the establishment of the international archery training center will provide an opportunity to elevate its status as a global archery hub to a higher level.
The international archery training center will utilize the green space around Osu Archery Field, with a total project cost of 5.1 billion KRW (1.9 billion KRW from the national government, 1.6 billion KRW from the provincial government, and 1.6 billion KRW from the county).
Starting with a design competition in January this year, the design service is scheduled to be completed by November, and the project will proceed rapidly with a goal of completion by December next year.
The center will have a total floor area of 1,300㎡, with a four-story building including athlete accommodations capable of housing about 40 people.
Additionally, seminar rooms will be provided, and the county will directly operate the center, carrying out various administrative tasks to lead the development of archery in Korea.
In particular, the Jeonbuk International Archery Training Center is expected to strengthen its role as a training ground for national team athletes by linking with various existing sports infrastructures.
With the construction of these facilities, Imsil-gun will not only establish itself as an archery mecca but also develop into a multipurpose facility accessible to local residents.
The county plans to accelerate the establishment of a base facility so that sports teams can maintain their performance in a comfortable environment and continuously recruit and nurture outstanding athletes.
By building optimal sports environment infrastructure and conducting aggressive sports marketing activities, the county aims to take the lead in revitalizing the local economy.
There is growing anticipation that once the international archery training center is built, Imsil-gun will become the center of South Korea’s archery, which boasts world-class skills.
The county expects that by directly operating the international archery training center and revitalizing operations such as archery sports clubs, many residents will use the facilities, and it will serve as a foundation for producing promising archery talents in Korea.
Along with recently completed facilities such as the multipurpose gymnasium and park golf course within the public sports stadium, the center is expected to play a significant role in promoting sports activities among residents.
A county official said, “It will be a cradle for nurturing sports talents where local representative athletes can train and improve their skills without being restricted by location,” adding, “It is expected to play a major role in expanding the base of archery by contributing to the development of Korean archery, discovering promising talents, and being accessible to residents.”
