'Discovery of Presidential Election Promises and Joint Response to Current Issues' Gwangju-Jeonnam Northern Region Win-Win Development Council Meeting Held

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] On the 13th, the heads of four local governments?Buk-gu and Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju City, and Damyang-gun and Jangseong-gun in Jeonnam Province?met in Jangseong to hold the 5th Gwangju-Jeonnam Northern Region Win-Win Development Council.
The heads of each local government had in-depth discussions on ▲establishing a northern region cooperation system and promoting balanced development ▲discovering win-win development presidential election pledges ▲joint response to current issues.
In particular, they shared concerns about population decline due to aging and low birth rates, and agreed to integrate the economic, cultural, and living zones of northern Gwangju and Jeonnam to create an AI convergence-type smart innovation city, thereby enhancing the synergy of regional win-win development.
Also, as the government’s metropolitan area housing supply plan raises the necessity of relocating the Korea Military Academy, they agreed to attract it to Jangseong-gun, which has the largest military education facility of the army, to revitalize the local economy through population inflow, job creation, and national balanced development.
Commissioner Moon In said, “The Gwangju-Jeonnam Northern Region Win-Win Development Council will continue to actively respond to joint issues such as local autonomy and decentralization based on a solid cooperation system and exchanges.”
Meanwhile, the Gwangju-Jeonnam Northern Region Win-Win Development Council was launched in January 2019 by four local governments?Buk-gu and Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju, and Damyang-gun and Jangseong-gun in Jeonnam?to promote regional development and respond to various issues.
So far, through four meetings, they have discussed major issues such as the relocation of public institutions to local areas and administrative district adjustments related to the development of the advanced 3 districts.
