Prosecutor at the Corruption Investigation Office Accused of 'Wife Assault'... Police Investigation Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] It has been confirmed that a current prosecutor at the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (Gong-su-cheo) is under police investigation after being accused of assaulting his wife.
According to the police on the 11th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency received a complaint last September alleging that Prosecutor A of Gong-su-cheo assaulted his wife and is currently conducting an investigation.
Prosecutor A is accused of assaulting his wife while staying abroad in 2019. The wife’s side is known to claim that she was pregnant at the time of the assault in November of the same year.
Prosecutor A is reported to be fully denying these allegations.

A Gong-su-cheo official stated, "This case arose when the prosecutor filed for divorce against his wife, and the wife responded with a criminal complaint. The allegations pertain mostly to events before the prosecutor’s appointment to Gong-su-cheo and appear largely to be one-sided claims. The prosecutor has submitted evidence and related materials to the police to refute these claims."
