Urban Regeneration Hub Facility... Will Contribute to Community Recovery Realization
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] The ‘Buk-gu Happiness Harmony Center,’ a key facility of the university town-type urban regeneration New Deal project, is opening.
Buk-gu, Gwangju announced on the 11th that it will hold an integrated opening ceremony for the Buk-gu Happiness Harmony Center at 2 p.m. on the 12th.
The event will be held with a minimum number of attendees, including the president of Chonnam National University, local members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and related organization officials, who are joint stakeholders of the New Deal project.
The Buk-gu Happiness Harmony Center was built with a total investment of 9.15 billion KRW, covering a total area of 2,250㎡ across one basement floor and five above-ground floors.
The first floor houses the May 18 Memory Space Exhibition Hall, a social economy enterprise product promotion hall, and the Happiness Gallery. The second floor consists of meeting rooms and the Harmony Auditorium.
The third floor is occupied by the Urban Regeneration Community Center and the Buk-gu Facilities Management Corporation.
The fourth floor includes the Women’s Happiness Support Center, which supports women’s social activities, and the Chonnam National University Regional Contribution Center. The fifth floor is designed as a social economy hub center and a space for youth startup support and exchange.
Director Moon said, “With the establishment of the Buk-gu Happiness Harmony Center as a base facility for urban regeneration, we will do our best to realize community recovery together with Chonnam National University and residents.”
Meanwhile, Buk-gu was selected in 2018 through a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport competition and is promoting the ‘University Town-type Urban Regeneration New Deal Project,’ with a total investment of 30 billion KRW including national and city funds until 2023, aiming to ▲ establish a youth startup foundation ▲ revitalize local culture ▲ improve residents’ quality of life and restore the community.
