Gwangju Bank, Nam-gu Office Treasury Keeper Baegundong Branch Relocation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Bank Baegundong Branch has relocated to the 1st floor of the Nam-gu Office building in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Selected as the primary treasury in last year's Nam-gu Office treasury bid, Gwangju Bank plans to support smooth treasury operations by moving the Baegundong Branch, previously located near Baegun Square, into the Nam-gu Office building.
Since the Gwangju Nam-gu Office is also located near Baegun Square with a high flow of people, the branch’s accessibility for general customers has been considered. This will enhance the role of the treasury keeper and also fulfill the role of a financial partner to local residents, significantly improving customer satisfaction.
Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, visited the branch and worked with employees to ensure smooth operation of the local government’s public treasury.
He stated, "We will do our best as treasury keepers to ensure that public funds, created from the taxes of local residents, circulate positively throughout the community, and provide the best financial services to related institutions and local residents."
During his visit, he also held discussions with Kim Byung-nae, Mayor of Gwangju Nam-gu, and Park Hee-yul, Chairman of the Gwangju Nam-gu Council, sharing opinions on ways to revitalize the local economy and operate the local government public treasury.
President Song said, “I sincerely thank the residents of Nam-gu, Gwangju, and the surrounding areas who have trusted and entrusted Gwangju Bank with local finances. We will fulfill the mission of being the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam by realizing the values of ‘coexistence with the region and companionship with local residents’ through timely financial support, sincere financial consultations, and providing various financial services in return for the love and support we have received.”
By reclaiming the Nam-gu Office treasury from Kookmin Bank, which managed it from 2019 to 2021, Gwangju Bank will operate as the primary treasury for four years starting this year, managing approximately 150 billion KRW in general accounts.
